Why are artists working with AI companies?
Artists who work with AI companies were at the centre of ArtNews’ article Artists and Creatives Are Working with AI Companies, but Should They? Artists Refik Anadol and Alex Reben spoke about their experiences working at NVIDIA. Anadol outlined how he sees the technology producing a new canvas to work with rather than AI usurping the place of creatives, while Reben highlighted that artists have always worked with technology companies in the process of developing new tools, citing Xerox as an example.
John Cassaday passes away at 52
John Cassaday passed away at the age of 52 this month. Cassaday was a multiple Eisner award winner and had published work for Dark Horse, Marvel Comics, and DC Comics, among others. He was renowned in the international comic book community, having contributed to the anthology Tipping Point, which also featured the work of illustrators Enki Bilal and Naoki Urasawa. In 2019 he became Chief Creative Officer of Humanoids, and held the position for several years. His final work, Madshadows, remains unfinished. (Via Humanoids)
